Human Resources recruitment

HR roles protect your business. We fill HR generalists, HR business partners, recruiters, benefits specialists and payroll specialists for employers in every state, from small local businesses to multi-state operations and everything between.

Employers across the country need HR generalists who can handle employee relations, compliance, HRIS updates, open enrollment support and a steady stream of policy questions from managers. Demand for these roles stays steady. Payroll specialists who know multi-state tax withholding are hard to find. Benefits specialists with leave administration experience stay in demand. SHRM-CP and PHR certifications signal a candidate who has passed a national exam. Those credentials matter most for HR business partner roles that advise managers on performance issues.

Many employers post a generic HR job description and wait for applicants who know every payroll system, every benefits module and every state leave law at once. That approach misses strong generalists. Hiring managers often overlook the value of an HR business partner who has guided managers through performance plans and investigations. A recruiter with a full applicant tracking system pipeline can save hours on sourcing. We screen for those specific experiences before presenting candidates.

How candidates are assessed

We start with a review of SHRM-CP or PHR certification and any state-specific leave or payroll training, then ask for examples of handling multi-state tax registration and corrections. That step is required. Then we ask candidates to walk through a recent employee relations investigation or a multi-state payroll reconciliation. Our screening covers the systems you use, such as ADP, Workday, UKG or Paycom, and the compliance areas that matter most to your state. We check that a payroll specialist can explain garnishment rules and a benefits specialist can describe a qualified life event. No candidate gets presented without a clear record of those skills.

Questions employers ask

What certifications do you look for when you screen HR candidates?

SHRM-CP and PHR are the two most common baseline certifications. We verify that candidates hold an active credential and check for state-specific training in leaves, payroll and workplace safety. Passing that national exam shows the candidate understands core HR compliance.

Can you help us hire an HR generalist who works remotely?

Yes. We fill remote, on-site and hybrid HR roles for employers in all fifty states. You tell us the state or states where the person will perform work, and we screen for that state's payroll, leave and posting rules. Remote HR candidates still need to know the laws where your employees sit.

What if we need a payroll specialist who knows union reporting or certified payroll?

We ask about those exact tasks during screening. A payroll specialist who has processed union dues, fringe benefits and certified payroll reports gets asked to describe the steps for a specific state. You receive a shortlist of candidates who have done that work on a W-2 payroll.

Do candidates pay a fee to work with Talent Strand?

No. Candidates never pay a fee. Employers work with us to fill their permanent roles, and the hiring decision stays with you.
